DCEPD
The Directorate of Continuing Education and professional
Development (DCEPD) is a unique unit committed to improve
skills of health workforce in the Tanzania to meet the current
needed level of health expertise through coordination and
conduction of health related short training programmes. By
partnering with the government, businesses, NGO’s, local
and international medical institutions and donors, the unit
stands as an important centre for health based continuing
education courses in the country.
Functions of DCEPD
In pursuing effective coordination of CEPD programmes to
improve skills and knowledge of MUHAS staffs and health workers
in the country at large, the directorate executes the following
functions;
a) Facilitate and co-ordinate and regulate MUHAS CEPD activities.
b) Conduct demand-driven CEPD courses.
c) Oversee quality assurance and control of MUHAS academic
programmes.
d) Oversee professional development of MUHAS staff for enhanced
CEPD delivery.
e) Conduct regular market research and needs assessment of
CEPD and effect appropriate interventions.
f) Develop, promote, strengthen and maintain effective and
sustainable infrastructure and institutional capacity for
CEPD in the University.
g) Promote and market CEPD capacities of the University.
h) Develop distance education and ICT based continuing education
programmes at MUHAS.
i) Establish CEPD relevant partnerships with other education
institutions, businesses, NGOs, local and international organisations.
j) Promote the financial sustainability of CEPD activities
in the University.
k) Develop and maintain an accreditation and certification
scheme for CEPD activities
