Entry Requirements for Undergraduate Programmes
MD and DDS Degree
Direct Entrants
- Principal pass at C grade or Higher in Chemistry or Biology/Zoology or Physics/Mathematics provided the other two subjects are not below D at “A” level. Preference will be given to applicants with C grade or above in Chemistry or Biology in that order.
- Candidates with E in Physics/Mathematics at “A” level provided they have “C” or higher in Chemistry and/or Biology.
- Candidates with D in Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology at “A” level provided they have at least credit pass in Chemistry and or Biology at “A” Level.
Equivalent Qualifications
Appropriate Diploma/Certificate/degree with Principal passes at any grade in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at “A” level of education. Holders of BSc/BA degree majoring in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Zoology.
BSc RTT Degree
Direct Entrants
- Principal pass at C grade or higher in Chemistry or Biology/Zoology or Physics/Mathematics, provided that the other two subjects are not below D at “A” level. Preference will be given to applicants with C grade or above in Chemistry or Biology in that order.
- Candidates with E in physics/mathematics at “A” level provided they have a C grade or above in Chemistry and/or Biology.
Equivalent Qualification
Holders of a Good Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography recognized by the University with a minimum of two years working experience in a Diagnostic Radiography discipline.
B.Pharm Degree
Direct Entrants
- Principal pass at C grade or Higher in Chemistry or Biology/Zoology or Physics/Mathematics, provided the other two subjects are not below D at “A” level. Preference will be given to applicants with C grade or above in Chemistry or Biology in that order.
- Candidates with E in Physics/Mathematics at “A” level provided they have C grade or higher in Chemistry and/or Biology.
Equivalent Qualifications
Appropriate Diploma/certificate/degree with Principal passes at any grade in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at “A” level.Holders of BSc, B.A. degree majoring in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Zoology.
BSc Nursing Degree
Direct Entrants
- Principal pass at C Grade or higher in Chemistry or Biology/Zoology or Physics/Mathematics.
- One“C” and two “D”s. Preference to be given to those with C grade or higher in Chemistry or Biology/Zoology in that order.
Equivalent
- Holders of Diploma or advanced diploma in Nursing
- Applicants must pass matriculation examination
- Candidates must be at least 25 years of age during the year in which admission is sought
- Candidates should have obtained at least 3 credits in the Form IV Examination in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics.
BSc Nursing (Management) Degree
- Applicants must pass matriculation examination
- Candidates must be at least 25 years of age during the year in which admission is sought
- Candidates should have obtained at least 3 credits in the Form IV Examination in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics.
Candidates must be able to show: That they have attended a nursing course at diploma level or above in which case a certificate and academic transcript(s) will be required. Candidates should have been registered by the Nursing Council of Tanzania or a relevant body in their country, if not Tanzanian nationals.
BSc Midwifery Degree
Direct Entrants
- Principal pass at C grade or Higher in Chemistry, Biology/Zoology or Physics/Mathematics.
- One “C” and two “Ds”. Preference will be given to those with C grade or higher in Chemistry or Biology/Zoology in that order.
BSc Midwifery - Conversion Degree
- Candidates must successfully complete the 2 years Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (ADM) programme.
- Candidates must pass the ADM Examination.
- Candidates must also pass the Matriculation Examination.
BSc (Environ. Health Science) Degree
Direct Entrants
- Three principal passes at “A” level in any of the following subjects; Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Nutrition or Mathematics and Geography. A candidate with a minimum of a “C” and two “Ds” will be given preference.
Equivalent Qualification
- Holders of appropriate diploma and or advanced diploma in environmental health sciences of this University, its predecessor or any other recognized institution of higher learning with two “A” level principal passes at any grade plus two years experience..
