The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) through its MUHAS-Library will organize a Two Days workshop on Online Reference Management and Advanced Multilingual Online Searches.

The workshop will be conducted at the MUHAS - Undergraduate Computer Lab. 

 Date: Thursday, 2 - 3 May, 2012 Time: 10 am to 3.30 pm. The library is inviting Academic Staff from MUHAS to attend the workshop by submitting their details to the undersigned. 

This two-day workshop will introduce you to online reference management and advanced searches methods and tools and equip you with skills in using reference management and search tools to enhance and improve teaching and research work within the context of their work and organization. 

Programme of the training

• Search Magic: How to conduct advanced multilingual online searches
• Search abstract and citation databases including Scopus,  Scirus and other academic databases: CABI, HINARI, AGORA
• Search Free Online journals, books, theses & dissertations, such as DOAJ, OpenDoar, Free medical journals etc
• Online reference and citation management by using free and open source software called Zotero

·         Organize collections, tags, searches, and saved searches

·         Collect/ capture online e-resources/ web pages and add item identifiers

·         Citing items, integrate with Microsoft word, automatic and manual bibliographies

·         Collaborate and share research resources and references on the web by using Zotero

Entitlements:

During the event, the organizers will provide out of pocket allowance, lunch and refreshments and distribute online instructional material. Participation in the workshop is free of charge.

30 participants will be accepted for the event
